SCBWI-Ireland new website and winter retreat

It’s hard to keep updating a blog during the summer months, especially in August when lots of folks are on their holidays and most activities seemed to be taking a breather until schools re-open in September. Then, with the autumn leaves and the cooler air, come the evening courses, exciting conferences and host of interesting activities.

But some members of SCBWI-Ireland (Ireland’s chapter of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators) have been working hard to update the website and make it ship-shape and ready to face into the new academic year (grateful thanks are extended to Colleen and Jessica). You can check out the new website here, where you’ll find heaps of information, including our development, contact details, blog and activities.

One thing you’ll not want to miss on SCBWI-Ireland’s diary this winter is our very exciting Writers’ Retreat, to be held during the weekend of 4th to 6th November in the Emmaus Centre in North County Dublin. Jointly organised with our sister chapter, SCBWI British Isles, we’re looking forward to a stimulating and interesting weekend with lots of opportunity to hone our writing skills and meet with fellow writers. SCBWI-British Isles feature the retreat here so you can check that out too.

The retreat promises to be a terrific event with a brilliant line-up of facilitators, including writers Oisín McGann and Steve Hartley, and Elaina O’Neill, Managing Editor of Little Island Books. There are only 26 prized places on this retreat so check it out and book your place as soon as possible before they’re all snapped up!
